Located in Za’abeel, one of Dubai’s most iconic landmark districts, One&Only One Za’abeel seamlessly blends contemporary luxury with traditional Arabian aesthetics.
As a five-star luxury hotel, the property features approximately 150 guest rooms and suites. In addition to its exceptional accommodation offerings, the hotel includes multiple fine-dining restaurants, a luxury spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, private swimming pools, and advanced conference facilities.
The lighting design throughout the hotel combines modern and traditional elements, resulting in fixtures that are refined, expressive, and forward-looking. Designers introduced a variety of avant-garde geometric forms, creating luminaires with dynamic, flowing silhouettes as well as stable, architectural geometries.
In the main lobby, a monumental suspended lighting installation occupies the central ceiling space. Defined by a minimalist geometric composition, the fixture is formed by intersecting and interwoven slender metal elements, giving it a sculptural, art-like presence. In banquet halls and conference rooms, the lighting adopts a more understated yet luxurious approach. Clean, decisive lines are paired with graduated light intensity, producing soft, non-intrusive illumination that enhances the atmosphere without visual harshness.
Material selection is another defining feature of the lighting design. High-quality glass, metal, and wood are carefully chosen, with each material finished to enhance both performance and aesthetics.
In the lobby, luminaires combine transparent glass with metal frameworks. The glass components refract warm light from within, while the metal structures convey a minimalist, contemporary character. In guest rooms and dining areas, warmer material palettes are introduced, such as wooden lighting elements combined with refined metal detailing, creating a calm, welcoming, and comfortable environment for guests.
Great attention is paid to detailing and craftsmanship in the lighting design. Many of the metal components are hand-polished, resulting in smooth, tactile surfaces that enhance durability and ensure safe, long-term use. Additional design considerations are evident in technical details—for example, in large luminaires used in conference rooms, the arrangement of light sources is specifically designed to direct illumination downward from above. This approach prevents direct glare to the eyes while ensuring sufficient overall brightness for the space.
During the design and installation phases, ANNO Lighting provided comprehensive technical and professional support. As the lighting supplier, ANNO Lighting worked closely with the design team from the early stages of material and form selection through to installation and final commissioning. Each phase was carefully refined to ensure that the luminaires not only fulfilled aesthetic objectives but also met the functional and operational requirements of a luxury hotel environment.
